It’s just one of those times when everything is a-okay, and when it is i just savor it Inspired as I was when i was putting these kits together, I filled it with the usual Studio Azul goodies plus more! I recall when SA’s DT, CV mention that the kits, particularly September 2011′s just wouldn’t quit! I’m still in the process of taking photos of her projects along with Mia Caniza’s who was a former blue lady and so graciously played with last month’s kit.Can’t wait to show you all! Things are just a bit hectic at work with the Christmas season coming around the corner, but I just can’t wait what these two talented ladies have done with the Sept 2011 One Fine Day Kit so watch out for it

Studio Azul is in an experimental, moody phase if you will. I’m still trying to see where this journey will take us, at the moment we’re not accepting memberships, but we are coming up with new kits to tickle your fancy. Yes, i admit they are a bit more pricey than our previous kits but i guarantee it’s worth it.  I guess you could say it’s a hang over of our recent Scrapbook Laureate that made me want fill up each kit. We only have limited kits though, instead of our usual 20 kits we only have 10 pieces of each new (2011) kit on stock.

It’s been a while since i started put kits together, so i had to come up with a theme to get my going, what better topic than my love of photography. Any chance I get to capture a memory or an object, the idea of freezing a moment in time is just amazing. Before anything, A BIG, BIG, THANK YOU! to everyone who participated in our Scrapbook Laureate last September 3, 2011. It was a huge success! the layouts speak for themselves, if i remember correctly we made over 400 pages in 9 hours of scrapping time! And our resident champ, Bessie del Rosario made 40 (or more i think!) layouts all on her own! *whew* but i’ll save all the yummy details for another post, i’m still compiling the photos and i don’t want to get ahead of myself. i’m attempting to make a short video, kaya pagbigyan niyo na lola niyo hehe

One of the first emails I have of Studio Azul, looking for scrapbook suppliers distributors, was back in May 2007. I’m sure we have email dating back farther when Mia Caniza and I conceptualized Studio Azul to be the first and best kit club in the country.  So post after post, we filled up our blog with new kits every month, but like anything change is always constant and SA was not an exception.

Fast forward to 2011, after my year long hiatus to go back to school, I was looking forward to creating new kits again. But life gets in the way and I had to make an important decision as Studio Azul takes a back step once more. And just like that! POW! like a Crop-A-Dile hit my head! like a million punches zoomed my way! like a ton of PPS fell from the sky! okay, you get the picture

I think I’ve found a way to involve my love for creating events and getting my hands on those lovely, lovely scrapbook supplies and still have time for my day job *wink* Studio Azul will still have kits, after all kits is in our BLUE blood but special events kits this time and will hopefully succeed for the most part of 2011 and 2012 to come up with unique crop/scrap events which we hope you will be able to join and of course, enjoy.

But this time, it will be in the comforts of your seats, hence the “Laureat”,what could be better than that! But we prepared a paper station so you can choose PPS to match your photos. (No take home, No left overs apply)
• What’s included in the buffet? Both classic and new supplies such as Chipboard, Stickers, Rub-ons, Embellies, Patterned Papers and assorted cardstock.  Also included are access to our various stations such as a die cut station, a mixed media station and a tools station. Rules may apply just to guarantee everyone has a chance to use all the materials and tools available.
• CHALLENGES AND PRIZES! Of course we want you to go home with as much layouts as possible so we’ve arranged for sketches and challenges to help your mojo along the way. And what’s an event without prizes!
• SHOOT, PRINT AND SCRAP CHALLENGE! Bring your digital cameras (don’t forget your memory cards!) and join our photo challenge. On the day of the event you will be given a chance to have your photo taken and printed out for a layout. You’ll shoot, print and scrap all on the same day!
• SHOPPING! What’s a crop without the “shop” part, right? Visual Creations, Studio Azul and our minor sponsor, Ippity by Unity Stamps will be on-site for your scrapping needs.

It’s been over 10 months since a blog updatse… if i was giving birth i would have been totally overdue and it would have been DEADLY! It has also been over a year since Au and I went back to school, juggled homework with work and mommy duties and ate decent and awful cafeteria food. I think in the process I broke down somewhere, and something just had to give. Unfortunately, one of those things was Studio Azul. Sadly, my forgetfulness took over and I was not able to update the blog or the rest of the members as often as i would have wanted. For that, my utmost apologies … send me an email if i owe you anything! lol seriously, email me!

But, according to dear Au … sabi nga ng TESDA photographer na ako and so we are, signed, sealed, delivered, certified AND  a full-fledged graduate of CSB-SDA’s Diploma in Professional Photography. Where it will take us, i’m not so sure but we can only hope for good things.

Speaking of good stuff, Studio Azul is slowly getting back on track. While yours truly is trying to recover whatever scrapping mojo she has left and it isn’t alot to fill a thimble! So, let’s get things started, shall we?

2011 is coming soon and i’m preparing for new kits for the upcoming year and some surprises! i don’t want to jinx it but something big is brewing in the horizon and you can bet it will involve lots and lots of paper, lots and lots of glue and everything else inbetween. So help me out and let’s keep our fingers crossed that the new year will bring more chances for everyone to scrap until they drop!

Btw, SA will not be coming up with any new kits for 2010, HOWEVER, i have a special sale coming soon so watch out for it while i put things together and send much needed emails and updates.

Nina and her beautiful family

Nina Ballesteros-Pateña is 31, a stay-at-home mom, homeschooler and writer-turned-artist. She finds it hard to believe that she’s been scrapping since 2006, ever since she walked into the Simplejoys store in SM Southmall and fell in love with recycled paper albums, faux leaves and beads. Her loves are scrapbooking, stamping and altered art. Among her sources of inspiration are the window display of local store Gingersnaps, music videos and surfing online. The 3 tools she can’t live without are pens, stamps and her solid wooden 8.5″ x 11″ guillotine trimmer.

On the February 2010 Kit, she says, “I wanted to show how versatile the kit was. So I wanted to do three styles of layouts: classic, cute, and artsy. I made a mini since we recently went on my husband AR’s company outing to Baguio. Plus there’s a lot of beautiful colors in the kit which I think pretty much captures how fun the trip was. I also didn’t know what to do with the scallop cardstock I used as a mask in one of my layouts so I decided it’d make a fun accordion just in time for Valentine’s Day.”

On being SA’s Feb 2010 GDT: “Tin, I really think you’re doing an amazing job with Studio Azul. I wish you all the best as you continue to bring us the kind of innovative and fresh goodness you always come up with in every month’s kit. It has truly be an honor. Thank you.”

“We’re all mad here”, says the Cat . . . maybe that’s why i haven’t uploaded the kit on the 15th like I said lol sorry about that, my bad.

As a child i have always been fascinated with Alice in Wonderland and the wonderful characters she met during her adventures. And now as an adult, the magic of this classic story has not lost its flavor; so i dedicate this to the child in all of us and how the truisms of Alice and he friends carries on its philiosphies in the world of grown-ups.
